Authorities allege the son of a slain Illinois community college professor beat his father with a baseball bat and stabbed him dozens of times before calling 911.
Twenty-year-old Liam McCauley was charged Saturday with three counts of murder in the death of his father, Joseph McCauley III.
Liam McCauley is being held on $1 million bond.
The 57-year-old professor at Heartland Community College was found dead in his home Friday. An autopsy showed Joseph McCauley died of multiple stab wounds and blunt force injuries to the head.
It was immediately unclear who Liam McCauley's attorney is.
A Heartland vice president says Joseph McCauley was a fixture at the school and was greatly respected and admired.
