A 9-year-old Brooklyn boy has been struck and killed by an SUV he had exited moments earlier.

The accident occurred after the driver had parked on the shoulder of a road in Wading River, on Long Island, on Sunday.

The boy got out of the vehicle. The driver then tried to re-park the car better.

Riverhead police say the driver lost control of the SUV.

They say she first struck a minivan parked behind her before hitting the boy.

The impact, police say, sent the boy into the middle of the roadway.

Police say the SUV continued to operate "out of control," striking the boy a second time as he lay in the road.

The boy was not immediately identified. He died at a hospital.

No charges have been filed. Police are investigating.
