Residents in a farming community in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains are sifting through the debris of their damaged homes after a powerful tornado swept through the region.
Hundreds of residents were still without power Thursday morning following the violent storm that passed through Hamilton and Stroud townships in Monroe County.
The National Weather Service classified Wednesday afternoon's tornado as an EF2 storm with winds of 111 to 135 mph.
Monroe County Emergency Management Director Guy Miller says the tornado touched down in a rural farming community in a valley between two mountains.
It tore the roofs off five homes and destroyed farm buildings for a stretch of five miles, causing three minor injuries.
Miller says two roads remained closed Thursday morning because of downed utility poles.
