Mexican health officials say a three-year-old boy has died of injuries he suffered in a June fire at a day care center in northern Mexico, bringing the death toll from the blaze to 49.

The Mexican Social Security Institute says the child died Tuesday at Shriners Hospital in Sacramento, California, where several other children injured in the June 5 fire in the northern state of Sonora have received treatment.

Prosecutors in Mexico have obtained nine arrest warrants for the owners and legal representatives of the day care center.

Witnesses say there was only one working exit and insufficient safety precautions at the day care center in Hermosillo, the Sonora state capital.
