A quick trip around Hannity's America...

Crosswalk Stimulus

The latest stimulus outrage comes to you from Chester County, Pennsylvania, where your tax dollars are being used to rebuild curbs at intersections that are hardly ever used by pedestrians. There are no sidewalks along the intersection of Business Route 30 and Route 340, but there are newly painted crosswalks, walk signals and handicapped-accessible ramps on the curbs.

Congratulations to the federal government for defying logic again in ways that not even I thought was possible.

Cap-and-Babble

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi discussed the Democrats' cap-and-tax bill Thursday at her weekly press conference. You'll love this. Take a look:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE NANCY PELOSI, D-CALIF.: Since last we met in this setting, we have the excitement of passing our energy bill.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: I get really excited whenever we can pass a tax increase by calling it something else.

PELOSI: To reduce our dependence on foreign oil and increase our national security.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: A bill to tax the heck out of you.

PELOSI: A bill to reduce pollution in the air and make America healthier, a bill to invest in innovation and new green technologies and rebuilding America in a green way, keeping good-paying green jobs, clean energy jobs here in America.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: A bill to tax the heck out of you.

PELOSI: And a bill to honor our moral responsibility to protect God's beautiful creation by preserving the planet.

LIBERAL TRANSLATION: A bill to tax the heck out of you.

Nothing makes Democrats more excited than sticking a good tax increase to the hard-working American people.

Chicago Brrrrrs!

The Meltdown is brought to you by the anointed one's hometown of Chicago, Illinois. While the president is overseas talking about the great perils of global warming, his old stomping grounds are experiencing record cold temperatures.

Wednesday in Chicago, the thermometer failed to hit the 70 degree mark, which according to the Chicago Tribune, makes it the windy city's coolest July 8 in 118 years.

Al Gore, are you listening?

www.Waste.gov

The GAO report released Wednesday confirmed what many Americans already know: The stimulus is simply not working. It also confirmed that the Obama administration is wasting millions of dollars in the process.

And as if the crosswalks in Pennsylvania were not enough, ABC News now reports that $18 million is being set aside in order to redesign Recovery.gov — the Web site that was so important that the vice president didn't even know the address:

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MAGGIE RODRIGUEZ, CBS' "EARLY SHOW": By the way, do you know the Web site?

VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: You know, I'm embarrassed. Do you know the Web site number? You know I should have it in front of me, and I don't. I'm...

RODRIGUEZ: All right.

BIDEN: I'm actually embarrassed.

RODRIGUEZ: I'm going to call your office.

BIDEN: Excuse me, it is Recovery.gov.

RODRIGUEZ: Recovery.

BIDEN: Recovery.gov.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

The White House says this site will help Americans track where their money is being spent, but I actually have a better idea: Why don't you just give us our money back and leave us alone?

U2 Are a Hypocrite

The rock band U2 and especially its lead singer Bono have been outspoken in urging people to live green — apparently while they pollute the planet.

The New Zealand Herald reports that U2's upcoming tour will leave a carbon footprint large enough to fly the band from Earth to Mars.

Maybe they can take Al Gore with them.
