NEW YORK – The Manhattan trial of Brooke Astor's son has been postponed because he is sick.
A defense attorney said outside court Tuesday that 85-year-old Anthony Marshall had to see his doctor. He declined to discuss the details, but said Marshall is not hospitalized.
Marshall had heart surgery last fall. His wife recently said he had suffered a mild stroke. He also hurt himself when he fell off a treadmill while exercising at home.
Marshall and a co-defendant are on trial in state Supreme Court. They deny accusations that they exploited Astor's dementia to loot her $198 million fortune.
The judge told jurors that the trial was postponed and instructed them not to speculate on the reason.
