Two children and one adult were killed in an early morning fire, while three others are in critical condition.
Sgt. Salvador Melendez, spokesman for Louisville Fire & Rescue, tells The Courier-Journal two children rescued from the Saturday blaze died at Kosair Children's Hospital and one adult was pronounced dead at the scene.
Melendez says rescue units arrived at 1:40 a.m. EDT and pulled nine people, five of them children ranging in age from 9 months to 7 years, from the burning, two-story house.
Ben Moore, a spokesman for Norton Healthcare, says two patients at Kosair were in critical condition and one was in serious condition. He says an adult at University Hospital was in critical condition.
