ATHENS, Greece – Greek court officials say a magistrate has ordered a man to remain in prison pending trial for the fatal 2004 shooting of a police officer.
The 32-year-old suspect was charged with the policeman's murder Saturday, after he gave himself up following his release from prison on an unrelated charge and allegedly said he had been involved in the killing.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the 2004 attack, but police suspect domestic terrorists were involved. The court made a decision Tuesday to keep the suspect in custody.
Police are battling a surge in attacks by domestic terror groups including the fatal shooting of an anti-terrorism policeman June 17. A far-left militant group claimed responsibility for the killing.
