RICHBORO, Pa. – A suburban Philadelphia woman accused of faking her abduction and taking her daughter to Disney World has waived her right to a preliminary hearing.
Bonnie Sweeten remains free on $1 million bail after a brief court hearing in Bucks County.
Her lawyer says she is on the mend amid mental-health treatment. She is back in the company of her three children, although another adult has to be present.
Authorities say the 38-year-old Sweeten told 911 dispatchers last month that she and her daughter had been carjacked and stuffed in a vehicle trunk. That prompted a frantic FBI search that ended when they were found safe at Disney World.
Police are also investigating whether Sweeten stole money from a family member or others.
