America has spoken — and Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, Tim Allen's endearing, ne'er-do-well character on "Home Improvement" — is the country's favorite television handyman.

According to a Father's Day survey from ServiceMagic.com, 22 percent of American voters chose Taylor as the “Top TV Handyman," despite his oft-incompetent workmanship.

Taylor's faulted but much-loved fictional character even finished above real-life handyman, Ty Pennington, who came in second with 19 percent. Bob Villa landed in third with 17 percent, and nine others followed suit.

“Over the years, sitcoms have largely been replaced by reality television. But 18 years since ‘Home Improvement’s’ initial debut, our survey discovered that a new generation still recognizes fictional character Tim Taylor as America’s most beloved handyman,” ServiceMagic.com CEO Craig Smith noted.

“How 'handy dad' has been judged has been a product of TV role models. These actors and personalities have set the bar by and large for the American father. We thought they should be paid respect,” Smith added.
