GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: While we were in Dallas, Ambassador Nancy Brinker, founder of the Komen Foundation, went "On the Record."

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

VAN SUSTEREN: Ambassador, nice to see you.

NANCY BRINKER, FOUNDER, KOMEN FOUNDATION: Nice to see you to, Greta.

VAN SUSTEREN: Now, I hope that the viewer know what the Susan G. Komen Foundation is, but just in case they do not know, could you tell us?

BRINKER: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, I founded it in 1982 in memory of my sister, who died in 1980 at the age of 36. And it was a very sad and a very different time.

And right before she died, she looked at me one day and asked me to make sure this did not happen to other families, and to promise that I would work to eradicate breast cancer.

And I promised her I would. And I told her even if it took me the rest of my life, I would. I didn't know it would take the rest of my life, but it has been an amazing journey. And I am now joined by hundreds of thousands of volunteers, and we are now the largest grass-roots based breast cancer organization in the world.

VAN SUSTEREN: We even traveled with Mrs. Bush to the Middle East in which she partnered up with Susan G. Komen and hop scotched around all these countries, visiting them. The reach is unbelievable.

BRINKER: Yes, he reach is unbelievable, and we have always been able to be innovative. We have looked very carefully, and when we see a problem developing we know we need to be there, because we try to reach our hand out.

And, of course, Mrs. Bush is loved all over the world, and respected. And so when this opportunity came to develop the program with the department of state and with her office to reach out into the Middle East and share this partnership, it just happened quickly. It had a very large impact.

It is going to be a long-term partnership. You cannot expect miracles overnight. But so far, awareness has been created. People are seriously looking into ways to continue the work. Breast cancer in young women can be very aggressive in countries in the Middle East.

And so, we are very concerned. We want to make sure we make good headway there.
