Facebook Rolling Out Personalized Domain Names Saturday Morning

Let the Facebook land rush begin.

At 12:01 a.m. EDT Saturday, the social-networking site will begin giving out what its rival MySpace has had for years — "vanity" domain names.

That means that Joe Smith's Facebook page will no longer be just "" — it can be something a lot easier to remember, like "," or ""

There are three catches: No. 1, it's first-come, first-served, so if your name really is Joe Smith, you'd better be logged on when the giveaway begins.

No. 2, you can only use letters, numbers or periods. No hash marks, ampersands, "@" symbols or dollar signs allowed. And all names must be at least five characters long.

No. 3, once you pick one, it's for life. So a 15-year-old Joe Smith may want to consider how "" will look to employers when he's 25.

As of time of this writing, you've got 2 days and 14 hours to decide what yours is going to be.
