A North Carolina middle school teacher charged with indecent liberties with a minor reportedly had no trouble securing her most recent teaching job even after being suspended twice in two months before resigning from her previous one.

Jessica Wishnask, 27, stepped down from her most recent teaching post Monday, two days after being arrested for reportedly having "intimate contact" with a 15-year-old eighth-grader while being under the influence of alchohol or drugs, according to StarNewsOnline.com.

Wishnask was hired by the Pitt County School district in February to teach eighth-grade after passing background checks and supplying positive references and a letter of recommendation from her former assistant superintendent, StarNewsOnline.com reported.

New Hanover Assistant Superintendent John Welmers told StarNewsOnline.com the law prevents him from commenting on the letter of recommendation he wrote for Wishnask or the reasons for her suspensions.

Wishnask is free on $40,000 bond but was unavailable for comment, the website reported.
