The Federal Aviation Administration says an American Eagle regional jet backed into another as it was pushing back from a gate at Los Angeles International Airport.

FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says an Embraer E-135 backed into another E-135 parked at the gate at about 4:40 p.m. Thursday.

Gregor says there were no injuries.

KABC-TV showed the planes' tails touching.

Gregor says there were an unknown number of passengers on the plane that was backing out, and all were safely taken off.

Gregor did not know if there was any damage.

The FAA is investigating.

American Eagle is the regional affiliate of American Airlines.
