When it comes to fuel economy, there are champs like the Toyota Prius, and then there are chumps.

Along with being one of the fastest and most expensive cars on the road today, the $350,000 Lamborghini Murcielago is also the king of the gas guzzlers. Its 640 horsepower engine sucks down a gallon of gasoline for every 8 miles it travels in the city and 13 on the highway for a nice round EPA combined rating of 10 mpg.

The folks that figure Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards are a little more lenient and say it gets 12.5 mpg, but it matters little. Even if Lamborghini could triple that figure tomorrow, it would still come up short of the new 39 mpg standard.

Owners of the car are probably very upset about that.
