Chicago authorities have their noses to the ground looking for their latest missing "person" — a 74-pound German Shepherd police dog.
Bear was in the backyard with his handler late Wednesday night when a loud blast of thunder roared, startling the black-and-tan dog, officers said in a press release.
The scared police pooch quickly climbed a 5-foot fence and fled. He was last seen Wednesday night at 10:30 p.m.
Bear is microchipped, police said.
Anyone with information on the crime-fighting dog's whereabouts is asked to call the Chicago Police Canine Unit at (312) 745-7180.
