Wichita State University Forgoes Handshakes at Graduation Ceremonies

University officials say that because of the swine flu outbreak, there will be no handshakes between new graduates and the school's president and deans at commencement ceremonies May 15 and 16.

Provost Gary Miller says students will get their diplomas and have their pictures taken as they cross the stage, but the most they can expect from administrators will be a smile and possibly a pat on the back.
