Authorities say a woman and two young children have been found dead in a gasoline-soaked home in central Wisconsin.

Portage County Sheriff John Charewicz says a 36-year-old man and a 6-month-old baby also were found when deputies went to check on the woman Thursday at the home in Nelsonville. He says both were suffering from inhaling fumes but have been treated and released.

Charewicz says the man, who lives at the home, has been jailed as a "person of interest" in the deaths. He says it appears the three were victims of "a violent death" but a cause has yet to be determined.

Police haven't released the man's identity.

Nelsonville is about 100 miles north of Madison.
