LONDON – British police say they clashed with Tamil protesters outside the Indian and Sri Lankan embassies in London.
The Metropolitan Police says protesters demanding an immediate end to Sri Lanka's bloody offensive against Tamil Tiger rebels broke through police lines around the Indian High Commission in central London, entered the reception area and smashed windows.
Police say a similar move by protesters against the Sri Lankan High Commission was thwarted when officers pushed them back.
They say two officers were injured in the clashes Monday. Six protesters have been arrested.
An ongoing protest by Tamil supporters in London's Parliament Square continued without incident.
