Illinois Mom Arrested After Allegedly Encouraging Teen Daughter to Beat Up Girl

A central Illinois mother is behind bars after police say she encouraged her 15-year-old daughter to fight another girl in a recorded confrontation that was later posted on the Internet.

Champaign police say Dawn Morris was arrested Thursday on a preliminary charge of contributing to the criminal delinquency of a juvenile. The 37-year-old was due in court Friday.

Prosecutor Julia Rietz says Morris yelled at her daughter to beat up the other girl at a park near the girls' high school.

Someone recorded the fight with a cell phone camera and posted the video on YouTube. It has since been taken off the site.

Rietz says Morris does not yet have an attorney. A message left at a telephone listed in Morris' name was not immediately returned.
