California authorities say a toddler who had been the subject of a statewide Amber Alert after allegedly being taken by her father at knifepoint has been recovered and reunited with her mother, according to KTVU.com.
The Alameda County Sheriff's department said 26-year-old Luis Meza Valdiva was arrested Thursday afternoon at a house in an unincorporated area of Hayward. The 22-month-old girl was found unharmed inside the house.
Authorities say Valdiva met his estranged wife and the toddler at a Burger King restaurant Wednesday night. They were supposed to be driving to Oakland, but instead police say Valdiva brandished a knife and took the woman and child on an 85-mile drive before letting the woman go.
Deputies later determined he was at the home of a friend in Hayward.
