Plane Forced to Land in Arizona Playground

A pilot made an emergency landing on a school playground at a north Phoenix elementary school.

Television images showed the plane ended up with its nose stuck in the grass at Villa de Paz Elementary School, just feet from a jungle gym and nearby classrooms. The pilot walked away and no one on the ground was injured.

The pilot had apparently been doing practice landings at a nearby airport at midmorning Wednesday when an unknown problem developed on the single-engine plane.
