A New York City roofer was convicted of murdering and dismembering his boss, then putting body parts in garbage bags and scattering them around the neighborhood.

Bronx prosecutors say Victor Gonzalez has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Wilfredo Pinto. They say the men were arguing on May 9, 2006, when Gonzalez bludgeoned Pinto with a hammer and dismembered the body. The men were entangled socially as well as professionally.

Gonzalez had claimed self defense, saying Pinto had bullied and mistreated him. His defense attorneys say they will appeal Wednesday's verdict.

The jury in state Supreme Court in the Bronx deliberated about five hours. Gonzalez faces up to life in prison.
