A Connecticut doctor who runs a walk-in clinic in Fairfield is giving his patients chicken soup as well as standard medical treatment.
Dr. Kilbourn Gordon hands out packages of chicken soup mix to patients who come into the Fairfield Urgent Care Center.
Gordon says when patients get the soup packet their eyes light up and they grin. Chicken soup has a reputation as being a cure-all for all sorts of medical maladies.
Gordon says a bowl of homemade soup would be better than a packet of soup mix, but that wouldn't be practical.
Since the soup is a packaged product, it comes with a disclaimer because of high salt content. The soup packet warns people who have high blood pressure not to consume it.
