An Oregon man has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Ferndale, Wash., high school track coach over an alleged "swinger" lifestyle.

Thirty-five-year-old Kenneth McBride lived in Skagit County at the time of the April 2008 shooting and later moved to Lebanon, Ore.

McBride is charged in the death of Jeremy Scully, a substitute teacher and assistant track coach at Ferndale High School.

Prosecutors say Scully led a "swinger" lifestyle that included McBride's wife, Venessa.

He entered his plea Thursday in Skagit County Superior Court in Mount Vernon.

McBride was arrested March 11. He's being held on $1 million bail. Public Defender Keith Tyne says he'll seek a reduction in the bail.
