A fire that may have been ignited by electrical lines injured one firefighter and destroyed about 34 homes on Thursday in Live Oak County.

The Texas Forest Service said a volunteer firefighter was taken to a hospital in Alice with burns. Two people suffered minor burns and refused transporation to the hospital.

A spokeswoman at the Live Oak County Sheriff's Office said not all of the homes that burned were occupied. Three shelters were set up in the community, which is near Lake Corpus Christi in the southern part of the county.

The fire, which started shortly before 1 p.m., covered about 175 acres. It destroyed 10 vehicles.

The Forest Service said the fire may have been started from electrical lines.
