Two nurses have filed a class-action lawsuit saying they weren't paid for working during meal breaks and for certain training programs at a Pittsburgh hospital.
A New York attorney, J. Nelson Thomas, says more lawsuits will be filed Wednesday containing similar claims.
Tuesday's lawsuit targets Pittsburgh Mercy Health System by two nurses who worked at its flagship hospital before it became UPMC Mercy last year. A University of Pittsburgh Medical Center spokesman wouldn't comment on the suit but says Thomas's law firm solicits such claims by direct mail.
The nurses claim the hospital automatically gave them an unpaid 30-minute meal break each day, even though they often worked through it. The nurses want overtime pay for that and the training.
