Animal welfare volunteers in western Ohio say the bodies of 14 dogs have been found in a creek along a township road near Bellefontaine and they fear they may find more.

Joni Dailey, an agent with the local Humane Society, says it appears the dogs were dumped from a bridge about a quarter mile upstream. She says most appeared to have been well-cared for, did not seem malnourished, and had trimmed nails.

She says the carcasses were of several breeds of dogs, and some of them had been skinned. Dailey says the Ohio State University School of Veterinarian Sciences has offered to examine the carcasses to determine the causes of death.
