Actor Josh Hartnett was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital early Monday for serious abdominal pain, according to a report from TMZ.com.

The actor, 30, was reportedly in “excruciating pain” due to gastrointestinal issues. Sources told the gossip site that the “30 Days of Night” star may have picked up a stomach virus while shooting a film overseas.

His publicist Susan Patricola says Hartnett had a flare-up of a gastrointestinal issue that affected him while he was starring in an onstage production of "Rain Man" in London last year.

She says in a statement that he "is under observation but is resting comfortably."

The actor reportedly called 911 at about 12:53 a.m. and was picked up at about 2 a.m. by an ambulance that transported him to the hospital.

He is scheduled to see a specialist today.
