Is John Mayer Giving Up Twitter After Aniston Dumped Him?

The rumor mill has been running rampant that Jennifer Aniston gave John Mayer the boot over his twittering (tweeting?) obsession, and it looks like Mayer has made a mental note and getting ready to soon kick the habit.

"I’m just goofing off, it’s silly. Isn’t it silly? Twitter is fun, but I’m gonna get off as soon it becomes like ‘Skippy Peanut Butter Presents Twitter.’ But for right now it feels sort of underground, but of course sadly it’s not that underground anymore," Mayer told Tarts on Thursday night at his "One Splendid Evening" soiree on-board his "Mayer Craft" Carnival Cruise Liner to benefit VH1 Save the Music Foundation. "By the way, for the true twitterers I got on really late — let’s not have me pretend that I started it. There are people out there that have twits since 2007, I only got started goofing off on it in January and really, I don’t know how much longer I’m gonna do it for. …"

The mad musician hand-picked "Idol" alum Jordin Sparks to perform a duet with him on his party cruise ship (for the record, he actually called her and asked instead of twittering) but it seems Mr. Mayer has no interest in looking out for the next one to follow in Sparks’ footsteps.

"I don’t watch 'American Idol,' but what did I miss? Simon have some witty barbs? Say a couple of cantankerous things? One of the singers picked a bad song and had a bad night?" Mayer questioned. "No I got it. Randy was complacent, Paula was out of it and Simon was incredulous." Meow.

Joel Madden Doesn’t Know About Octomom?

Despite the fact that Nadya "Octomom" Suleman has been hitting headlines and gracing magazine covers for quite a while now, it seems "Good Charlotte" rocker Joel Madden has had his head in the clouds.

"I don’t know anything about the Octuplet mom," he told Tarts, while fiancée Nicole Richie was quick to say she "didn’t want to talk about that" (or pretty much anything for that matter). But despite being a few months pregnant, a glowing Richie said she was feeling "great" and so far wasn’t bitten by the bug of morning sickness.

The star-studded duo (plus Benji Madden) were out at Hollywood hotspot MyHouse on Monday night for the Sony Cierge and The Richie-Madden Children's Foundation cocktail fundraiser for UNICEF's Tap Project.

"We’ve always been about the children’s organizations and we’ve always liked working with kids," Joel added. "So when we started our foundation it was all about kids and it’s just what’s dear to our heart, we do want to help all children. Kids in Africa are just as important as the kids in America, and the kids in America are just as important."

And even though the couple has a little one at home and another on the way, they’re still making the most of hitting up the hotspots. Pop Tarts spotted Richie and Madden lounging around with friends at West Hollywood’s Nobu on Wednesday evening, and when Madden wasn’t chilling out inside he was outside hiding from the paps in the corner having a puff. Thankfully, his knocked-up fiancé didn’t join him. …
