Pennsylvania Priest, Prison Inmate Settle Sex Suit

A Franciscan priest from Altoona and a prison inmate he had sex with have settled a lawsuit.

William Victor sued 67-year-old Rev. Gerard Connolly in November 2007, seeking more than $3 million. Settlement terms were sealed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Johnstown.

Connolly was sentenced to probation for 23 months in May 2008 for having sex with Victor at the State Correctional Institution-Cresson and supplying him alcohol.

The criminal case against Connolly began when prosecutors asked Victor about a money order he'd gotten.

Prosecutors say Victor demanded $7,600 from Connolly to keep quiet; he's serving two years of probation for theft by extortion.

Victor is serving 42 to 86 years in prison for an armed sexual assault in the Poconos.
