The actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars film has prostate cancer, Sky News reported.

David Prowse, who wore the famous black suit and helmet, called Absolute Radio to raise money for the Royal Marsden Hospital in the U.K. and told listeners about this condition.

"I'm involved with [the hospital] because I'm undergoing treatment for prostate cancer," he told the station. "I'm having my very last treatment this morning."

His agent Keith Bishop told Sky News the cancer was caught in the early stages.

"He is hoping for a full recovery and making good progress," Bishop said.

Prowse said he's had two months' radiotherapy treatment at the Royal Marsden.

"The only thing I've had is hot flushes and my wife tells me I'm going menopausal," Prowse joked about side effects.
