Agent Says Kentucky Man Requested Specific Body Parts in Murder-for-Hire Plot

A federal agent has testified that an eastern Kentucky man charged in a murder-for-hire plot wanted specific body parts of the intended victim.

Special Agent Jesse Hooker, with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said 70-year-old Robert H. Barnett of Salyersville wanted the testicles, eyeballs and thumbs of a West Virginia man who owed him about $7,000.

Hooker testified Thursday during a detention hearing for Barnett.

The Lexington Herald-Leader reports that Barnett's attorney, Cullen Gault, argued that Barnett should be released on bond because he is a longtime resident and family man.

The judge ordered Barnett to remain jailed in Fayette County.

Gault said the agent's testimony is only one side of the story, but declined to elaborate.
