A Pennsylvania teacher is suing his school for $10 million saying he was suspended for voicing the opinion that armed teachers would be a more effective deterrent against terrorists than lockdowns.

Tom Ritter, 61, said in a federal lawsuit that his thoughts on guns in the classroom and a Classrooms for the Future course being a waste of time, led the administration to give him an “unsatisfactory” rating, according to the Patriot-News.

With that rating, the science teacher said, the district suspended him without pay, and the school board may fire him at an upcoming April meeting, the Patriot-News reported.

District solicitor Bob Frankhouser would not comment on the case but told the Patriot News, the district would defend the lawsuit vigorously.
