An Oceanside high school teacher who brought a cable television show into his auto shop class has been fired after parents complained he was a bad influence.
Steven Jennings pitted his class against an auto shop class from a nearby high school on Speed network's "Drag Race High" this season to see who could build the fastest drag racer in three months.
Jennings admitted that he and some of his students at El Camino High threw eggs at the rival high school north of San Diego, but he denied involvement in a student car race around El Camino's football field.
Jennings, 29, said he went to the football field that night to stop the students, some of whom were arrested.
The Oceanside Unified School District terminated his contract. A spokesman declined to say why.
