LONDON – The Oxford University winners of a college quiz show have been disqualified after it emerged that one of their members was no longer a student.
National attention focused on the team from Oxford's Corpus Christi college after media ran a series of profiles on team captain Gail Trimble. Nicknamed "The Human Google," Trimble easily tore through questions on "University Challenge."
The show is British version of the U.S. "College Bowl."
But her team of triviamasters was disqualified when it was reported that one of her teammates, Sam Kay, had graduated before participating in the final.
The BBC said Monday that Corpus Christi's title had been transferred to Manchester University. Kay has apologized.
