KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City fire truck heading to a call with lights and sirens flashing has struck and killed a 7-year-old boy.
The Kansas City Star newspaper reports that the boy was killed Monday about a block away from his school.
Kansas City School District Spokesman Andre Riley says the child was an immigrant from Africa.
The fire department says in a news release that the truck had been dispatched to a motor vehicle accident.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
Kansas City police are investigating.
