The last of eight prisoners who authorities say escaped from a south Mississippi jail by chipping through a wall has turned himself in.
Marion County Sheriff Berkley Hall says 19-year-old Eric Ball turned himself in at the sheriff's office Tuesday afternoon.
Hall says Ball had been hiding out in the community of Harmony, about two miles north of Columbia. After being taken into custody, he was put in a lockdown cell at the Marion-Walthall Correctional Facility.
Authorities say the group somehow managed to fashion a chisel out of a piece of a bed and chip away at the wall over time to escape. The sheriff believes the escape might have been easier because razor wire on the jail's south side was taken down for construction.
