NEW YORK – New York Police have arrested a grandmother in connection with the death of a four-year-old boy in the Bronx.
Police were called to a home Saturday where they found four-year-old Kevion Shand unconscious and unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the Medical Examiner's office is to determine the exact cause of death.
Police later arrested the boy's grandmother, 45-year-old Angela Barksdale. She was charged with assault.
Meanwhile, police are investigating the death of another boy found dead in his Bronx bed.
Police say there were no signs of trauma on the body of 9-year-old Derrick Peralta, and the city medical examiner will work to determine how he died. Police were called to his apartment Saturday morning after his father discovered the boy was unresponsive.
The child was brought to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was declared dead.
