Search and rescue crews responded to a report of a possible avalanche Wednesday in an out-of-bounds area at the Mount Rose-Ski Tahoe resort southwest of Reno.
Ski resort spokesman Mike Pierce says a report of the snow slide was received around 11 a.m. Wednesday below the lodge at East Bowl on the Slide Mountain side.
He says it's unknown if anyone was caught in the slide or details on its size.
Washoe County sheriff's spokeswoman Brooke Keast says search and rescue crews are responding.
Avalanche danger has been high in backcountry areas of the Sierra after a week of heavy snow.
Pierce says the area of the reported slide is steep terrain.
