Samuel L. Jackson is the latest Hollywood star to voice his opposition to the Mormon Church's support of Proposition 8.

At a video game event on Tuesday, Jackson weighed in on Tom Hanks' earlier comments that Mormon Prop 8 supporters were "un-American."

"I wouldn't go so far as to calling them un-American," Jackson told Foxnews.com. "I'd just call them misinformed."

Hanks, an Executive Producer for HBO’s controversial Utah-based polygamist series “Big Love,” later apologized for his "un-American" comments.

"I labeled members of the Mormon church who supported California's Proposition 8 as 'un-American,'" the actor said in a statement. "No one should use 'un-American' lightly or in haste. I did. I should not have."

Kim Farah, a spokesperson for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, responded to Hanks' original statement, noting that "expressing an opinion in a free and democratic society is as American as it gets."

Proposition 8, passed during the November 4, 2008 general election, changed California's Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to opposite-sex couples.
