The grandfather of murdered Orlando girl Caylee Anthony will remain hospitalized for medical evaluation after he vanished and expressed the desire to take his own life last week, the hospital said Monday.

George Anthony was sent to the Halifax Medical Center early Friday morning after his family found a five-page suicide note he’d written, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

Because he was involuntarily hospitalized, Anthony must be released within 72 hours of when he was stabilized unless his doctors determine he isn’t ready to be released, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.

Anthony's attorney Brad Conway reported him missing Thursday after Anthony didn’t show up for a scheduled meeting.

Police then used suicidal text messages sent from Anthony's cell phone to track him down at a Daytona Beach motel Friday morning, MyFOXOrlando.com reported.

The remains of Anthony’s granddaugher were found in December after months of searching for the missing girl. His wife Cindy said picking out jewelry for Caylee's funeral may have sent him over the edge, the station reported.

Anthony's daughter, Casey Anthony, is charged in the girl's death.
