Florida Man Faces Charges After Allegedly Punching Baby During Carjacking

A Florida man is facing criminal charges after allegedly trying to carjack a woman outside a Miami store and then punching a baby to "keep her from crying."

Francisco Oses is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade Circuit Court on Feb. 4. He is charged with attempted carjacking, four counts of attempted kidnapping and aggravated child abuse.

Police said Oses, 37, of Hialeah, Fla., tried to carjack 29-year-old Jessica Baez in December.

Baez, who was waiting for her husband at a Walgreens parking lot, had four children in the Mitsubishi Endeavor.

According to police reports, Oses punched Baez during a struggle for the SUV, then struck the 18-month-old girl. He fled the scene and was on the run until Wednesday.
