An 11-year-old girl who won the backing of Oklahoma's football team in her search for a life-saving transplant could undergo the procedure this week.
Tallie Anderson has started chemotherapy to prepare for the stem cell transplant at the University of Oklahoma's medical center.
Tallie, who suffers from a blood disorder called aplastic anemia, had been part of a public awareness campaign that included many Sooners football players going through bone marrow screenings in August.
Tallie's match didn't end up coming from one of the players, or from coach Bob Stoops. Instead, a donated umbilical cord will make her transplant possible.
