Russia's president has indicated that an international meeting has brought no agreement to restore supplies of Russian natural gas to Europe via Ukraine.
Dmitry Medvedev says the prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine will continue bilateral talks to end the dispute that has blocked shipments across Ukraine. He says he hopes gas will begin flowing again within days.
But he said the main result of the international meeting Saturday, which included European officials, was a chance to exchange views about the conflict.
The gas cutoff has left homes in Europe without heat and forced factories to shut or slow production. The EU has threatened to review its relations with both Russia and Ukraine if the dispute is not resolved this weekend.
