A quick-thinking neighbor is being credited for helping Denver firefighters find a man inside a burning house — moments before much of the home collapsed.

The blaze erupted at about 1:30 a.m. Friday on South Pennsylvania Street in Denver's Washington Park neighborhood. Firefighters found the home fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

A next-door neighbor told fire crews they'd find a man on the first floor at the back of the burning house. Crews were able to pull the man out shortly before the roof collapsed along with the first and second floors.

The resident was rushed to a hospital, but his name and condition haven't been released.

A house just south of the destroyed home suffered minor heat damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
