Seattle may be home to the world's first Starbucks and New York has a reputation for being high strung, but sunny Tampa, Fla. is the most caffeinated city, according to a new national survey.
Seattle landed second on the survey conducted by HealthSaver, a national health care discount service company. The Washington state city was followed by Chicago, New York and Los Angeles.
Aspiring baristas should stay away from Riverside and San Bernardino, Calif., — the least caffeinated metropolitan area, according to the study. Other top "unwired" spots are Atlanta, San Diego, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Dallas.
The telephone survey was conducted by an independent marketing research company between July 1 and Aug. 1, 2008. A total of 2,005 people were surveyed.
But the results may be up for debate. Last year, the first year of the survey, New York was among the least caffeinated cities and Atlanta among the most caffeinated, but each city wound up on the opposite list this year.
