American Idol kicks off tonight with a new host and a revved up Randy Jackson.

"Idol’s going to be blazing hot again this season, man," Jackson told Fox News backstage Monday night at the taping of his new show, America's Best Dance Crew. "Some different kind of kids."

And the Idol host made some early predictions, in his own inimitable verbal style.

"The boys have the edge right now. We’ll see who holds up through the test of time, you know what I mean, because it, it’s a little early to really tell now, but I think the boys have the edge."

This year, the boys and girls are going to have to make it past Idol's Three Musketeers of Jackson, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, plus a fourth Musketeer, new judge, singer-songwriter Kara DioGuardi.

So far, the chemistry among the judges is great, says Jackson.

"Everybody’s getting along," he says. "I mean, I don’t know, Simon’s been very lonely since he split up with his girl but I, I’m trying to find him someone."

Cowell and longtime girlfriend, Terri Seymour, broke up last November.

Hey wait, isn't Kara DioGuardi single? Now that would make for a wild new season.
