A 25-year-old mother has been accused of abandoning her newborn outside a Brooklyn apartment building in near-freezing temperatures.
Police say Maria Solano left the baby boy early Sunday in front of a building near her Bay Ridge home and rang several doorbells before running away.
Police discovered the newborn wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in a plastic bag. The boy, believed to be just a few hours old, was hospitalized in stable condition.
The Brooklyn district attorney's office says Solano, who has three other children under 5 years old, faces charges of reckless endangerment and abandonment of a child. Arraignment has not yet been scheduled. The DA's office said the name of Solano's lawyer was not yet on record.
