House Fire in Upstate New York Kills 8

Fire destroyed a house Sunday in upstate New York, killing eight people.

Authorities say eight bodies were recovered, adults and children, several apparently related. Their identities were not immediately disclosed.

Terry Bennett of the Oswego County Emergency Management Office says there were no smoke detectors in the home.

The fire in the town of Richland, 37 miles north of Syracuse, was reported shortly before 3 a.m.
